[accidental video 006] death on the orient express

Nov 21, 2010 18:42

[The feed turns on as the device goes cluttering across the floor. The angle is odd, but it's quite easy to make out the sounds, make out the pictures on screen, make out what's going on. It might take a little figuring out, or a small tilt of your head, but the view is surprisingly good all things considered ( Read more... )

[It was the space of moments- one moment, he feels the ripples about them as the glass explodes in to movement, but hears no sound of glass breaking. Two moments, and he hears Gilbert shout, hears the thump, and he's on the defensive, taut and ready- but what's coming. There's movement criss-crossing about his vision, but dimmed and still fading as it was, the worst thing for him to try and lock on to were those small, clear shards, and though he could fight a man in this condition, such a thing-

Three moments, and he hears Alice taking Oz, hears-]

[Feels Gilbert's foot collide with his head.

It's the last thing he expected. A choked little sound as he crashed forward, his sword- no, cane held tightly in grip despite the head first barely broken by his arms fall to the ground. His head was pounding, thundering with what was the purely physical pain of the collision, and blocking out his hearing with the ringing caused by it, leaving him shaking his head desperately trying to will his hearing to return quicker. Perfect, just perfect- he relied on that hearing more and more these days, and honestly, even though it was to force him to dodge something, it wasn't as if he'd forgive that kind of method-]

Idiot, watch where you're-

[Snapped out as his hearing was clearing, as he was pulling himself to one knee, turning to try and locate them all again, the blurs in his vision that were people he knew-]

[Ah...

Eyes widened as if that might make the image clearer, frozen still half-up exactly where he was, on one knee, gloved hands bloodied with glass shards beneath them splayed on the ground. The sounds of chaos had stilled, his hearing returning as the ringing in his ears faded just in time for him to hear the end of a whisper trail out in Gilbert's voice.

So... why wasn't that blur, the only thing remaining of him in Break's vision, moving? Hah- his vision had gotten worse again, hadn't it. Probably the blow to the head. It had gotten this bad so quickly, so quickly that it looked like he might be...]

[ Alice doesn't think, and stops when she sees what horrifies her, the way a glass shard stabs through him. Oz is in her arms next, and she stumbles backwards. Gil's death completely unravels everything, and her larger form is stripped away, leaving a fifteen year old girl in his wake. She had been fighting, fighting, repelling and destroying all that she can, and in the Chain's carelessness...

Her eyes wide at the impossible sight, at the way the dark haired man takes the blow meant for Oz -- Alice B Rabbit is used to death, used to seeing and dealing it out on a regular basis, but this is a comrade, a friend -- ]

[Ah, that's-- The first transmission he's gotten from Gil's communicator since he's been down there, and for an instant, Elliot's relieved that he's finally hearing something, but--

It's quickly apparent as the video begins that there will be little relief to be found.]

[He's reacting as he watches the recording play out, as if his words will somehow get through and have an effect--

And this is why he told you not to go down there, Oz, because now they're all in danger, and why doesn't anyone listen to him?]

Damn it, idiot, this is exactly why I told you not to--

[And then his words catch in his throat as he watches that shard pierce his brother's chest, as he watches him fall, watches the screen go red with his blood.

This has to be another one of those nightmares, this can't be real, because he's lost too many brothers already and he can't lose Gilbert too, and he can't lose him to something like this.

But he isn't waking up. He watches it all again, and he still isn't waking up from this, and neither is Gil, and--]

Gilbert Nightray. I told you that you weren't allowed to do this. You aren't allowed to die in this stupid place, now--

Get up.
