You put a lot into this great post. This is the sort of feeling I had when I saw Cool World in the theatre. None of the genre-references meshed cohesively, the character focus kept shifting and it failed miserably.

Thank you; it was hard to write. The movie left me a bit inarticulate. I left the theatre just repeating, "man, that was just a stupid movie!"
