Since it's been a while...

I've recently started to watch Fate/Zero and Persona4 the animation, soo... time to blab a bit! :D
Aaand I was going to put everything under lj cuts but apparently lj is being a dick again and won't let me. Sorry "XD

So.
Fate/Zero was an anime I was eagerly waiting for.
I’m completely in love with the Fate/stay night series, it’s just so epic and absorbing, and personally I’ve always found the whole Heroic Spirits deal a genial thing. I’ve never had the chance to play the original visual novel though, so all I could do was following the anime/manga adaptation to get to know all of the story… so I’m really, really happy they decided to make an anime for the prequel <3
And honestly all I can say about Fate/Zero is that IT’S FREAKIN AMAZING. LIKE, IN THE VERY AMAZING SENSE. I’ve finished the first episode just some minutes ago and I’m still blown away. IT’S ALL OVER AGAIN GOD I’M SO HAPPY
The quality of this thing is just superb. I can’t say Studio Deen made a bad job on the first series, but holy fuck ufotable is just the best thing. After Kara no Kyoukai I really think it’s the perfect choice to convey the Type Moon’s style: the animation is wonderful (and I didn’t even get to the battles yet, it’s going to be oh so amazing), the character design is just beautiful, the music is perfect… gosh it feels so good to be watching such a well-done anime like this <3
The story seems totally interesting too: it’s the Holy Grail War all over again, but with totally new characters, some of which are parents or relatives of the protagonists of Stay Night, since this is a prequel. Beside the excitement for the new Heroes who will be involved (together with ajhdsfkhg Saber and Gilgamesh which will have here their first confrontation) and the developments this new war will have in itself, it will also be absolutely interesting to see the background that was only hinted in the first series.
There already have been appearance of little Rin (gosh she’s so cute!) and Sakura (poor girl I had no idea her past had been like this), not to mention two of the participants are Rin’s father (who’s pretty fascinating by the way, though I get the feeling he’s not really that nice of a man) and Shirou’s father (yeah, there’s Kiriei too but I’m not really fond of his character, though it sure will be interesting to see what really happened between him and Kiritsugu).
And on a side note holy crap I didn’t know Kiritsugu and Iliya’s mother were lovers! Or better that Iliya in the end was their child! (I love how things like this finally interconnect). Iri is a totally lovable character anyways. Gosh she’s so beautiful and cute, and I love her with Kiritsugu <3
Speaking of characters, of the new entries my favorite for now has to be Waver. I MEAN LOOK AT HIM, HE’S JUST SO CUTE AHGHFSHJKJKHGDG <333 Though I must say I sympathize a lot for Kariya. I MEAN POOR GUY, I so feel for him. And I feel like crying if I think that he’s going to die anyways at the end. FFF, I hope that Zouken dies in the most horrible way, gosh.
Overall I’m so excited for this thing I don’t even <333 It’s going to be a pain to ration the episodes though ;__;

edit: ahfdjsfjgsdhf Waver's got HIM as Servant, how happy am I just now?

About Persona4, I was really curious about this adaptation, since I never got the chance to play the game but I was still very interested in the story. What a perfect occasion :D
I heard very contrasting opinions on this, but I actually really liked the first episodes I’ve seen. As I said I’ve not played the game, but I’m familiar with the style of the Persona series having played P3, and I must say I really like how they put it off. Imho the type of game Persona is makes a possible adaptation not really easy, with all the social links (which are an integral part of the game), the MC being the player him/herself (thus not talking nor having a definite personality) ecc.
What it’s been done with the anime seems to work though and I’m pretty surprised. They kept the general atmosphere so as the details like the calendar or the stats or the Velvet Room (I was so squealing when the first episode started off with that music <3) and that’s good! *_*
The animation seem very good too, especially the action scenes are really well-animated (the fourth episode was especially great!) I also really like the way Personas are summoned: though I think the guns are still cooler, the evocation scenes with the cards are just amazing!
Everything overall seem to have been realized pretty well, which is a relief considering the rumors which were circulating about the general quality. I must say at first things seemed a bit rushed to me, especially with the Shadow confrontation, but the fourth episode totally proved me wrong and I hope the anime will keep that kind of pace for future developments.
The story seems interesting so far: being interested in the title as I was I pretty much already knew who the characters were going to be and the general plotline, and despite the fact I accidentally already spoiled myself about the identity of the culprit behind the murders (yes yes, I should not search for fics of series I have yet to watch) it will be nonetheless interesting to follow the various developments.
For now at least the impressions I had on the characters have been proved right: Yosuke is an idiot and I adore him ( I so wanted to patpat him in the second episode), Chie is much more adorable than I thought she would be (really on another lever compared to Yukari, who I don’t really hate but…) and Yukiko, though she’s not the type of character I usually get fond of ended up being very interesting; and Nanako is cutest little thing ever <3. I admit I’m extremely curious to arrive to Kanji and Naoto’s characters though!
And I already ship Dojima/Adachi so hard.
Oh, on a side note it’s really hard not to burst off laughing watching this show and remembering the amazing hiimdaisy’s strips’ amazing dub (it’s impossible to look at a single scene without having flashes echoing the various jokes XD P4 has been marked forever).
I’m really really curious to see how the series will go, though since it’s ongoing I’ll try not to burn all the episodes in one go (which will be diiifficult damn it XD)

fangasm, anime
