Ferrets can live anywhere from 7 to 10 years. Waffle is only about 4, but his specific breed is known as being inbred and fragile, so he's pretty old. The breed is also very small.. he's barely over 2 lbs when healthy. We want to get another ferret, as a friend, and we're looking at some big boys, almost twice his size!
Aw, why sad? He had a bad first 2 years of life, but then I got him and since then he's been a happy little bean.. today he was weasel-dancing all over the place. He'll be even happier when he gets to have a ferrety friend. He might not be around too much longer but I'll make those few years very happy!
