So what becomes of you, my love
When they have finally stripped you of
The handbags and the glad rags that your Grandad had to sweat so you could buy?Now that I have watched the complete British series of The Office and every available episode of the American version, I am fully entitled to weigh in on both of them. A hefty annoyance of mine for ( Read more... )

Woah, I salute you too! For some reason I thought you (yes, you in particular) were going to tear this post apart. Glad to see it was appreciated instead. How do you feel about my picks?

I haven't seen nearly enough of the American series -- only like two or three -- to have a well-developed opinion. But your analysis of the British one (down to how Brent is strangely heartwarming at times) is spot-on. And I like what I've seen of the American one and agree that it's a reimagining through American eyes done very well.

Yeesh indeed, mon frere. It was quality TV, you should watch it. I know how you loves you some BBC-ness. Three cheers for The Office!

Also, I have four episodes of the NBC one downloaded from iTunes (including the classic "Ryan started the fire" episode), so when you get your video iPod, maybe somehow you can load them onto yours if ya want :-)

Dear Donnelle Fuller:

PLEASE MARRY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you so much for posting this.

I got the entire BBC series for X-Mas and am steadfast working on watching them all. But I have not finished yet, so, I did not click your lj cut. Remind me to read that after I've finished the whole series.

Thank you. I am so glad you and I agree on these points.

Anything The Office is brilliant, in my eyes.

Oh man, I WISH WISH WISH I could watch The Office Special with you!!!!! I'd LOVE to see your initial reaction to the last 10 minutes. They are 10 of the most priceless minutes ever seen in any television show in the history of the medium.

I doubt you will be able to wait til we get back to school...so go ahead, watch it, and tell me what you think :-)

OMG i totally agree with you on the last episode of the UK office. personally, it was the most satisfying piece of television i've ever seen. well, i didnt see it, bc i was crying so hard, but i heard it. and it was amazing. i got chills just from reading your thing.

dare i pull rent into this equation? i know you can relate to this being "defensive", as you put it. having seen the UK first, i had huge loyalty to that. personally, the show is already so awkward (in the best way possible), that the awkwardness of knowing ..er, it has been done before..(forgive me the phrasing) makes it that much more...er, unbearable personally. plus, i PERSONALLY don't like steve carell in this role. TOTALLY a personal preference and i can see why it's great for other people. i just prefer ricky gervais.

ultimately i commend you for your judgement.

All I needed was the love you gave,
All I needed for another day,
And all I ever knew,
Only you.

Yeah, truly the most satisfying episode of anything ever. I've had that song on my computer for years, but now I'm like super obsessed with it (especially the 1999 mix, I think they used it at the end of "Can't Hardly Wait"). Nothing has ever made tears spring to my eyes faster. Usually it's like, "awww...this is cute...oh dear, I'm tearing up!" But for that episode it was like ::cue song:: BAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWLLL!!!!

Ugh, it was such a perfectly crafted moment.
