Ether Crystals act as a new efficient power source and were developed and became standard government use in 2224 CE, 100 years earlier. These crystals, which come in different sizes, were originally viewed as a alternative power source to the used of nearly depleted fossil fuels. 63% of all energy consumption on the Shell come from these crystals

Do ether crystals run out of power eventually (like a battery)? If so, can they be recharged? Are they made or found somewhere? And are they relatively easy or difficult to make/acquire?

The crystals are found on the Earth, though they are available for purchase on the Shell. This is particularly important and within the last 30 years, civilian have begun to adopt them into standard home use. It should be noted that Ether Crystals are typically not cheap.

The official name is Project: Outer Earth. Outer Heaven was the made scheme of Big Boss in Metal Gear.
