Glee - 2x14 - "Blame It on the Alcohol"

So, about this episode...

I am not impressed. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for it to begin with ever since that blind item spoiler about Blaine going bi was released, but I still had some hope that it wouldn't be a complete trainwreck. Alas, no such luck.
I wasn't even that bothered by the (faux-)bisexuality plotline, even though the whole thing was pretty pointless (and mildly offensive to bi people), and didn't serve any purpose other than having Blaine make out with someone who isn't Kurt. I'm mostly disappointed in Blaine's total disregard for Kurt's feelings. It's one thing for Blaine to serenade some guy while being completely oblivious to Kurt's crush on him, but quite another for him to decide to go on a date with one of Kurt's friends, without considering for a second how Kurt might feel about that. Ugh, I'm still trying to erase that scene in the coffee shop from my memory...
And don't even get me started on Rachel. Whatever happened to we are divas and we need to fly solo for a while? And she was obviously still hung up on Finn, so why does she have to go after Blaine of all people, fully knowing how Kurt feels about him? That's just a shitty thing to do to a supposed "friend". (I might be slightly over-identifying with Kurt here because I know from first-hand experience how sucky it is to have the guy you like start dating one of your friends.)

All in all, this episode just left a really bad taste in my mouth (insert alcohol-related pun). I guess I shouldn't take it that seriously since it's Glee. I usually roll my eyes at people who won't stop complaining about the silly plotlines and the constantly changing characterizations because the show has always been flawed, and the writing has always been sloppy and inconsistent. And part of this show's charm is the fact that it is completely ridiculous and unrealistic, so I shouldn't make a big deal about it. It's just that Kurt is pretty much the only character I actually care about, and he's also the only one who keeps getting rejected over and over again, which is what makes this whole thing so incredibly frustrating. (That and the fact that all of the gay and bi characters on this show - with the exception of Karofsky - have smooched people of the opposite sex, yet the only gay kiss there's been so far has been non-consensual.) If they keep ruining Blaine's character like that, I think I might have to stop shipping Kurt/Blaine. :/

Oh, well, I'm just gonna take the episode title literally and blame this entire stupid mess on the alcohol (now I kinda wish I'd had some myself while watching it). Knowing the writers, the events of this episode will probably never be brought up again anyway, so I'll just pretend none of it happened. Or rather, I'm gonna adopt this fic as my personal head canon:

Almost There by seaouryou
Really cute and funny take on how the party (and the spin the bottle game) could have played out. Kurt/Blaine pre-slash.
