This time they're doing it at the freaking public library. These morons want the Gay People's Chronicle and Outlook Weekly removed from the lobby of the Upper Arlington Library because they are offensive and have "nothing to offer."
ARG!

Books and other library resources should be provided for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. Materials should not be excluded because of the origin, background, or views of those contributing to their creation. (Emphasis mine)
Regardless of the fact that those free papers are not considered "library materials," (i.e. owned by the library), they are endorsed by the library and are given out as information on that property. It is not a requirement for libraries to subscribe to the ALA Library Bill of Rights, but according to the library director, that library and its board does. Similar statements are probably in the library's policy. It's a shame that conservatives think they can force their way past the foundations and principles of free speech that libraries stand for simply because they have a strong opinion. Disgusting.
