Handy Household Tips

Incandescent lightbulbs subject to alot of vibration or bounce don't last long, as the repeated movement causes the filament to break. You can buy "tough" or "heavy duty" lightbulbs, with a thicker filament, but they aren't worth the money. Buy fluorescent lightbulbs instead; no filament to break.

cha, but fluorescent totally hurts my eyes, and it looks unnatural.

You know you can get fluorescent bulbs in different colors, right?

Keeping in mind individual results may vary, I haven't had a problem with them. I've replaced almost every lightbulb in the house with fluorescents over the last few years (except the ones on dimmer switchs), and not one person has commented. I just buy stock bulbs, but you can get "soft white" and "daylight". There might be more colors; I don't pay too much attention since I buy alot fewer bulbs now. I don't think the stock bulbs are the same color as tube fluorescents, either - heck, tube fluorescents aren't the same color. I've got two in the workshop, and one is blue/white and the other is yellow.
