SUPER-DUPER Voice Post Second Language challenge

Nov 13, 2007 12:30

I'm challenging anyone reading this to make a voice post of yourself speaking in a foreign language. I can't wait to hear your beautiful voices speaking in a foreign tongue. Whoever said all those Latin courses wouldn't come in handy?

But you are so charming. You must've gotten a lot of dates.

They should've been flocking! I did date this one guy.

It certainly helped with my Czech since my students only wanted to converse in English - but we dated shortly before I returned home so not much time to practice.

Hrm... my choices seem to be Old English ::reaches for dusty copy of the Canturbury Tales:: or Greek. I learned a few songs in Latin... and I can sing along to several of the Inuyasha theme songs with alarming accuracy... uh... Does an amazingly accurate Minnesota accent count for much? Ufda!

I'd love to hear any and all of those! And I'm sure your accent will be lovely. Don't have any worries of doing it badly since my two voice posts just went from abad accent to much worse.

An amazingly accurate Minnesota accent is practically Swedish...or Norwegian. I think it should count as 2 languages.

I'm a Hanson from Minnetonka. XD

Ah, how I miss the Land of 10,000 lakes, the constant discussion of the weather, and WCCO radio. ::iz nostalgic::

Gosh! This idea moves pretty quickly. Who can keep up with Noko? Damn, she's good.

I was thinking of doing something like this, but with singing. Then I remembered I can't sing and...

I'm trusting you on the Czech.

Yes, sing! I'm thinking of doing a tonge twister but I've only got one VP left since I've used up two by hanging up the phone in the middle (it automatically posts under private).

lol! I know a very vulgar phrase in Yugoslavian. Other than that, I can order gelato in Italian and I should be able to speak French (seeing as I'm Canadian and I've taken college courses). ^^; Don't know if I'm brave enough to try speaking it on a voice post, though. It's bad enough for me when I'm speaking English on a voice post! XDDD

But your Czech sounds pretty good. That's funny about them asking you to speak English. I remember talking with a guy in France who was saying how he had to ask French Canadians to speak English because he couldn't understand what they were saying when they spoke French to him. XD

Well, when I visited Britain, some of the various accents had me stumped, so maybe I can understand your Frenchie friend's response. While in Croatia, I kept trying to communicate in czech and it didn't work very well either.

As for my czech, language skills will sound advanced if you don't speak the language. Noko's Japanese sounded advanced to me but she claims it's bad. I think you should at least do a voice post swearing in Yugoslav!

Yeah, the English/Scottish vernacular and the various (heavy) accents can be very difficult to decipher when you're visiting the UK. I had a hell of a time in Manchester! XD

I could try a few phrases in French. I'm not very confident in my French.. and it helps when I've had a few drinks. But my Yugoslavian swearing is just peachy!

I'll be waiting - and you can always get smashed mid-day pretend you've had a few drinks to account for any faulty pronounciation!

That was awesome! I can't wait to do this. Can you tell me how you got to write something on the post? Did you have to make the voice post and then go back and edit the post with text? Stay tuned to my LJ for me rattling off some Italian and maybe Chinese and Korean.

I edited the post immediately after I made the voice post and added the text. I can't wait to hear yours!!
