And life spirals ever on...

So, several things I've noticed.

First, obviously I don't come here as often these days, but beyond that, I'm noticing an overall drop in LJ usage. This may not be related to the second point, but paired with it, it's not making me want to rush back to the fold.

Second, there's this entry from Nodwick. Which makes me wonder if this entry is going ( Read more... )

life, confusion, angst, coding

Happy Birthday!

In response to your post: I've moved my entire LJ (some six years' worth, comments included) to a hosted Wordpress blog, let my paid account lapse and only use my LJ to post links to new posts on my Wordpress blog. LJ seems to be very popular in Russia, and possibly other countries, but the old LJ network that I knew is long gone. Everyone is on Twitter and/or Facebook now.

It really seems to be that way. A lot of the vitality seems to have left, and I really think at least part of that is due to LJ's own internal coding--and not just this latest kerfluffle, but the entire window-blocking ad uploading they had for people not logged in (I know, I caught that a couple times coming to LJ unlogged).

I know a few people have just up and left over the window-blocking ads. I swear, firefox and the adblocker/noscript utilities need to be more well known. :/

I'm still here, even if there's a lot more crickets chirping... :)

True, but you're also a lot of other places. And to be fair, you've always been a lot of other places. :D

Most of my posts are at DReamwidth and echoed to LJ. I do a lot more posting on Facebook, but the majority of that is LINKS to videos and interesting things. I've always preferred LJ though to writing something that I'd like other people to read. FB is hit and miss, normally you spill your guts out in that and someone picks up an obscure fact in your post and the whole thing gets hijacked over that trivial point.

LJ is "old kit" and hence, less popular nowadays

Yeah, maybe. It could just be that it was around before, all the shiny newness has worn away. Like I said, I don't plan to entirely depart, but obviously, my attention has drifted.

I'm still here! Not so much posting but always reading.

Don't really hang out most other places except Dreamwidth.
