Last Friday, we drove to Lyon to hang out with
omighja and see some shows. We were so happy to see her and the night was fun, although as I say often, I think goth events in France are really badly organized. This was no exceptions, here are some reasons:
- No other alcohol to drink but beer (no wine... IN FRANCE!!!). That leaves you with very little options when you're not a beer drinker like me.
- The place closed at midnight sharp and we had no time to discuss the shows with friends.
- No music to dance on after the shows.
- It was punk-goth-industrial music and they didn't allow any spikes inside, so many people had to take off their jewelry.
- It's always the same bands playing (I had a strong feeling of déjà-vu from Strasbourg). We missed the first band(s) though, because there was no way we could be there at 18h30, so maybe it was a bit different. France seems to be very closed on itself compared to other countries around, it's a shame. Not that I didn't like the bands playing last weekend, but it would have been nice to see at least one foreign band... or even a French band actually singing in French, hehehe! :p
And well, flashes were not allowed, but at least we could take pictures, which is nice. That's the reason why a lot of pictures are a bit blurry... it was dark in there.
On with the pictures and the movies!
First, we saw Neon Cage Experiment:
Movie! It wasn't bad, but in my opinion, the music lacked a bit of unity. It might be just a matter of taste though. They had a good presence on stage, but it didn't interest me as much as I thought it would; I usually enjoy that type of music (synths with little or no guitars). I liked parts of songs a lot, but never a whole one. A lot of people danced and we still had a good time, so yeah, it migth just be me being difficult, eh!
omighja and her boyfriend. :)
Blurry us, hehehehe!
Tamtrum came next:
Movie! It's always a big spectacle to see them... you get paint, fire, fireworks and sparkles all in the same show. ;) Not my favorite type of music, but their live performance never fails to impress! You might lose your eyebrows to it, but it's fun! :D
It always gives me the creeps, thinking about what happened in RI, but the exit door was near.
Last but not least, it was time for Punish Yourself:
Movie! By now, you all know that I think this band is a "must see" live! ;) They were awesome, as usual and everybody seemed to enjoy the show. It's such a great party everytime and the fact that the singer had to perform with a broken hand didn't change the quality of the performance a bit. Cuddos to you,
vx69! It's just a shame we couldn't say hi after.
There was a very annoying photographer beside me though, who arrived after the show started and stayed in my way all along, yuk! You might have a job to do, but it's no reason to piss off eveyone around you... there are ways to... not be in the way, starting by arriving early and not taking the space of other people. Anyway, here are the pics...
She was easier to film than to photograph! ;)
