There was flashes of light, some screaming, a very odd whirring noise, and someone saying authoratively, “Stop this now, or I will stop you!”
A thing ran past them, and Jeeves and Bertie tried to ignore it. A man ran by and paused, flailing to catch his balance. “Have you seen a slimy ten-armed thing run by?” he asked.
Bertie pointed wordlessly, gaping. The man ran on, waving some silver thing with a blue light.
“Jeeves, I was thinking.”
“Yes, sir?”
“I rather think I’d look spiffing in a leather coat.”
“I hesitate to disagree, sir, but it does not befit a gentleman of your station.”
“Perhaps just a jumper then.”
“Indeed, sir.”
