.... July 2009???

Argh, WB hates me, whatever have I done to them? First they deprive me of TDK long enough that I go from being super hyped to feeling that it's a chore to watch that lame old movie (some time after the fucking 22nd of August) that I probably have to do to because of Heath Ledger (I need to form an opinion on that performance after all! Plus I've ( Read more... )

I don't even care. I want no masterpiece in 2009. I want a little "Draco, stop being silly..." "You're just jealous old man!!!" fun this fucking autumn! >:(

I had heard great things about Dexter, but I never could get into it because the first few episodes that I watched made my feminist self squirm. The numerous female dead bodies, Dexter's boss being perpetually hot for him, his cripplingly shy sister, the Barbie body parts - I never made it past five or six episodes. Maybe it gets better though?

8 months sure is a long delay for HBP. Someone at WB certainly miscalculated. At lest this way I can wait longer to see how they butcher my favourite scenes. :-)

I felt a little like that in the beginning - all the female victims and bodies, for real and in Barbie form, especially, obviously killed by male predators. His girlfriend a helpless nice little victim too ( ... )

I haven't read the official reasons for the HBP date setback, but it's pretty logical that they'd want to extend the march toward doom of the cash cow that is HP. Might as well make us all wait and build up a huge, ticket-selling hype in the process. They're making JKR's book releases look pretty timely in comparison.

One odd thing I'm hoping for in HBP is to see McG and Snape dueling (whether or not they include Snape's Batman moment and the hilarious Snape-shaped hole in the window). I remember when I first read that scene, I was thinking how cool they could make it look if it actually ended up in the movie. Alas, I'm pretty sure it will not.

I guess they are quite desperate to milk it for what it ... possibly could be worth under the idealest of conditions. I wasn't really all that cynical about the 2 DH movies so far, but there seems to be a pattern!

The official reason is that it's because of the writers strike. Apparently it left summer 09 blockbusterless and they therefore keep HP back to fill the void with the added benefit of not having any competition. (No, I didn't think that they took great pains to sound nice and appease the fans either.)

I think they'll try to make the moment cool, but that doesn't mean it will be cool in the slightest!

Whaaaat? That's ridiculous about HBP. Have they said why they pushed it back?

Grr! Just when I was starting to get excited about it, too.

Yep, they just started to create excitement and it was working but now they went and killed it all! Next summer baby Voldemort is nothing but old news.

Apparently there are no blockbusters in summer 09 because of the writers strike and so they are planning to show HBP then and have it be ridiculously successful just for being the only thing that's on anyways. >:/ I really don't think you can do that with HP. I hope they are aware that they have to work on the next one despite of everything.

Hi, I'm here via the lj community snevans. I notice that we have several interests in common. Is it OK if I friend you?

Worst of all, I watched Wanted. Not at the cinema, thank god, but for free was still way too expensive.

I haven't watched it, but I've heard that it's pretty bad. From what I've read of it, it's a very bizarre movie. Have you read cleolinda's parody of Wanted? It's utterly hilarious. You can find it here:

I found Juno funny. But I think it was overrated. I can see why people like it, but it wasn't *that* great.

I've heard of Dexter. It reminds me of the manga comic (and the anime version) called Death Note, where a serial killer kills criminals. Only the creator of the manga portrayed the serial killer Light in an unsympathetic manner, wheras I've heard Dexter is portrayed more sympathetically.

Hi, welcome, it's fine if you friend me - I friended you as well - I might even get more active one of these days...

Thanks for the link! Wanted *is* bizarre, so there is sure something to laugh about, even if I didn't enjoy watching it.

Yeah, Dexter is very likable most of the time, I think, though I'm sure that opinions are very devided about just how sympathetic he is. He is creepy, sure, but not in a way that would hinder you from loving him. :p

Thanks for the link!

You're welcome. :)

It's interesting how you mentioned that Dexter's creepiness doesn't prevent viewers from liking him. What are the things that makes him likeable?

Sorry that I always take so long to answer...

Well, for one he is such a vulnerable child (he's very seriously damaged, but in a way that left him rather childlike) but sometimes darkly funny (and only the audience will ever know this side as it only happens in his thoughts - which makes you feel closer to him, I guess). Then he generally kills people who a)really deserve it and b)would pose a significant future risk to innocents otherwise, without any excessive cruelty. He's quite easy to love, really. Heh.
