People say, "you are a beautiful woman, Rita. You are so strong, you lived such an interesting life." I think it's perfectly natural. We always have aspects of ourselves that feel neglected or ignored by others at various points for various reasons. When sexuality is such a huge part of who you are, there are going to be times when you want that aspect of yourself to be recognized and acknowledged, just as there are times you want people to realize that you actually have a brain or can run 5 miles or whatever else.
