And Indeed There Will Be Time 5/6

Mar 26, 2012 16:43

Okay, I've decided to split the last part into two chappies - not just for the sake of evil cliffhangers, but because I promised you guys I'd post the next chapter pretty soon... and I'm still not happy with the third-person narrative in the last bit *headdesk* So yeah, have this and bear with me in the meantime...

As usual, please don't hesitate to ( Read more... )

fic, hastings, poirot

Thanks, m'dear. I've been tearing my hair out trying to come up with a satisfactory voice in the last chapter, but... *bashes head against keyboard* Ah well. I'll just get the new gardener to come and play the flute, shall I? ;)

You're welcome. I understand. For whatever reason, 3rd person narrative is more difficult for me to write. Hehe, I don't know about that. ;0)

I'd offer to beta, but I'm super busy. If you want me to have a glance, though, I'll gladly do so. If you don't intend to post it for a few days, then I'll be done and can help more.

Yeah, especially since we're used to having a 1st person narrative in the books whenever Hastings is around.

I appreciate the offer, but I should manage all right. In the end. Arrrrrgh. Unless I get suddenly visited by a muse, the last chappie should be up as a reward after your job interview XD *hugs*

Oh, you know what? You made me cry.

Okay, no, it's not true but it was really well-written (as usual, eh) and I was like "ohhhh *____*" xD Can't wait for the final chapter :D

And you know what? You made me grin sadistically blush.

Seriously though, thank you so much for your kind compliments. They really mean a lot to me :D As we speak, I am swearing at my computer in search of inspiration... This 3rd person narrative is such a &#!*% pain in the arse XD

Also I just want to get it over with and have our lads make passionate love, but that's quite another story...

You're welcome! Oh, so you prefer the first person narrative? O: Personally, I've no preferences but I think with Hastings' POV, 1st person is way better :D Probably because I'm used to books where Hastings appears ._. (But there are good stories written at 3rd person with Hastings too.)

Inspiration is golden, hehe :D

Yeah, definitely. A first person narrative is usually easier to handle, and I agree that it feels particularly right with Hastings. The thing is, I need to put things into perspective and alternate with Poirot's POV - so 3rd person it is!

*puppy eyes* Oh, Hastings, Poirot, oh! O_O

Oh, this is so angsty! (But very good!)
Next chapter, please!

Muhahaha! I'm evil like that >:) I promise it gets better in the end, though.

Thank you for your kind words, they keep me going. Yeah, I can't seem to be able to write anything apart from angst at the moment XD Next chapter coming up as soon as the muse strikes...

Ooooh, thank you! I'm so glad that you like it. Yeah, poor Hastings is the worthy heir to Epimetheus XD In his defence, I'll say that Poirot hasn't been a lot of help and this is a pretty awkward situation, especially at the time.

Hehe, I remember reading some Austen fanfic of yours somewhere in 3rd person XD I definitely agree about the advantages of a 1st person narrative; 3rd person is an absolute bitch to write. You have to keep up with everyone's thought process and moves without repeating "Poirot" and "Hastings" every two lines *sighs with you*

Woah! Angsty! But good angsty. You know, with all your and cicero's excellent ficcery, I guess I will have to read all the Poirot stories after all.

Sterling work! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Thanks awfully, m'dear :D

Yeah, looks like I'm no good at anything but angst at the moment XD To be honest, I'm not a big Christie fan. Frightfully prejudiced old bat, and after a while her plots begin to lack cruelly in originality (not to mention the appalling superficiality of her so-called profound characters). Nah, it's Sir Arthur all the way for me XD

But I do love these two characters (especially as they're depicted in the TV series) - and Christie does have her moments. Curtain is bloody amazing, as well as The ABC murders and a few other non-Poirot stories (Endless Night, And then there were none etc).

Thanks again *hugs* I'm working on it right now while not at all in Philosophy class!
