I'm not too convinced by Beatle mustaches, myself. As for Brian, I don't mean to sound disloyal but having seen those sideburns I rather doubt his ability to grow a convincing beard. As opposed to, dare I say, the aforementioned Brown, who had a rather nice beard...

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall the first time Lennon saw him with the 'burns. Or anyone else ~ most people would politely try to hide their WTF-faces, but at first glance they would go like ~ ?!?!?!?!
