You'd think the release of Ghost in the Shell on BD would be reason to celebrate. After all, with Honneamise and Akira already out, we'd really only need Macross: DYRL to finish the non-Ghibli/non-Kon essential anime film canon in HD. But alas, it comes in the form of Ghost in the Shell 2.0, in which Mamoru Oshii gives the George Lucas treatment to

So that is what 2.0 is. I saw it, and couldn't tell if it was a re-release or a new sequel.

Yeah, I could have looked closer, but somewhere in there I remembered that I was a bit underwhelmed by GitS. So I didn't care about a remake (as I own it already) or a new movie.
