Read The Time Traveler's Wife- it's not breath-takingly intellectual, but <3. Pnin (Nabokov) will make you laugh. The Kite Runner (I'm refusing to see the film in case it's awful). And The Moor's Last Sigh by Rushdie. It's like reading chocolatey treacle :) No classics, sorry!
