Dec 08, 2009 15:06

I think it's about time I did a list of all the classic series stories I've watched/heard. Feel free to yell at me for not watching a certain serial of your liking.

Teh list. )

It's funny that you should say that, because I've ordered the Key to Time box set this weekend - it's way above the amount of money I limit myself to spend on Doctor Who every month, but with Christmas approaching I'm allowed a little luxury, right?

Ohyes! (And Key to Time is a corker.)

Definitely worth it. Early Christmas presents to myself are my guilty pleasure :o) Year before last I got a big box of goodies from the Big Finish sale :o)
The Ribos Operation was the first Classic serial I saw, so it's special to me, but even without bias, it's brilliant :o) Rather more talky than action, but Four being talky is always fun. And Romana I is wonderfully haughty :o)
Then there's The Pirate Planet, of course. If you haven't heard about THE BEARD OF THE SKY DEMON!!! then you soon will :oD

What, you haven't seen The Romans yet? Or The Mind of Evil? Or the Sea Devils???! Ack - go forth and view! (at least you've seen that marvelous tale, The Mind Robber - yay)

Talons of Weng-Chiang is another most excellent romp with Four as Sherlock Holmes as well.

Those are all in my wish list, so it's just a matter of being able to buy them in the near future. And I think The Mind Robber is probably the serial I've watched the most - I wonder why...

Definitely needs moar Three and Four ("Ambassadors" and "Inferno" are good, "Time Monster" is unmissably lolarious, as is "Power of Kroll" and "Horns of Nimon"). "Shada" is a partial recon due to BBC strike action at time of filming. (Unless you go for the BBC/Big Finish version with Eight instead.)

Do see "Ghost Light" and "Curse of Fenric" - the plots themselves make nooo sense, but the way the tales are crafted is interesting.

And long "Daleks' Master Plan" is long, but try and see it.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of those. I don't know why I missed so many episodes from Ace's era when I first discovered Doctor Who years ago (I started watching with Arc of Infinity and watched it all up to Remembrance of the Daleks) but I'm sorry because I know I missed a lot.

And yes, The Daleks' Master Plan has been high in the list of stories I'd love to get my hands on for ages. So far I've only watched the three episodes available in the Lost in Time set, but I wish I could see the whole thing - not only because I'm a sucker for anything Kevin Stoney was involved in (well, maybe not Revenge of the Cybermen), but also because I love Katarina and Sara Kingdom to bits.

I love how you're the only other creature I know that's seen or heard ALL of Two's era. & of course, if it hadn't been for you, I never would be the second one that I know of! :P

& YES, YOU NEED TO SEE The Sea Devils & The Talons of Weng-Chiang - Three is AWESOME in the first (& chases after Delgado!Master on a jet ski!) & The Talons of Weng-Chiang was my first Leela serial & the one that made me forgive her for replacing Sarah Jane - she is AWESOME LIKE WHOA in it. & her table manners are just appalling & we love her for it. ♥

(also? NEEDS MOAR ROMANA. :P & WHY don't I have a Leela/Romana icon?!)

*bows* I love to share, you know that. :D

They're in my wish list! *smiles* As I said in a comment above, this month I decided to go crazy and ordered the Key to Time box set, but those will definitely be my purchase in the near furutre.

(PS: So much hate for LJ right now - I'm getting notifications of other people's replies to my comments in their own entries, but none to comments left in my own journal! Grr... I've seen other people complaining of this as well, so I imagine the same has been happening in yours too.)

::glomps:: & I'll always appreciate it, as you know! ♥

& OMG YES, I SEE THAT YOU'VE ACQUIRED THE KEY TO TIME BOXSET! ::is a bit jealous:: Enjoy it! & do tell me what you think of Romana I, of course. ^-^

(& GAH, YES, LJ IS BEING VERY MEAN WITH THE COMMENTS. I'm slowly starting to get some in my actual inbox, but half the time, I'm not sure if anyone's actually answered or left me any comments! It's positively enraging, not to mention frustrating. ::kicks LJ::)

:D

I shall, of course. I've already loved Romana I in her Companion Chronicle, but that's clearly post-Key to Time, after Romana's attitude and relationship with the Doctor had changed considerably from their adventures together. It will be interesting to see her still fresh out of the academy and locking horns with him.

(I KNOW! I'm only now receiving the comments you replied to 12 hours ago, some of which I've already replied because I remembered to check the threads when I arrived home. It's completely infuriating! :/)

There's some great episodes you haven't seen, but that just means you've got lots to look forward to! Carnival of Monsters doesn't seem to get much acclaim, but I think the writing in it is brilliant, and it also has Ian Marter in a different role.

Yes, definitely!

Ooh, I knew Ian Marter was in an earlier serial, but I didn't know which one - thanks for letting me know. :D
