[drabble] A Beautiful Mess: Last Night

Summary: Jin and Kazuya are good friends and band mates. But people around them kept on saying that they aren’t: Jin is hurting and Kazuya is confused, what would happen to them?

“You know that I can’t say no to you Jin… but it’s too late now. It’s too late…”
Jin scoffed as he recalled back what Kazuya had said. He had told himself that it was just a phase, a confused phase. He was just confused by the dreams that he had been having and that it didn’t mean that he really want the younger man that way. He was sure of it, but when he woke up that morning and went to work…
“I love you too…”
But why was it that when Kazuya whispered those words into the phone, with a soft look on his face, his heart started to yearn again for the other. Jin stared at his phone. He wanted to call the other but he knew that it was awkward between them right now and if he did, he was scared that he would say things that he might regret.
Jin laughed at himself; he had already said something that he had regretted, what’s the difference now?
He picked up his phone and was about to dial when Pi’s number shown at the screen.
“Yo!”
“Hey!”
“Where are you now? Want to hang out?”
Jin smiled slightly, “I’m not in the mood right now…”
“Eh? Akanishi Jin is declining an offer to hang out? That’s strange…” Pi said teasingly.
“…”
“Jin?”
He cleared his throat, “I messed up Pi…”
“Messed up?”
“Kazuya won’t care about me anymore…”
“Jin… what the hell are you saying?”
“I…” A choked sob made him realize that he was already crying, “I told him…”
“Shit… Jin…” he could hear Pi curse softly, “You’re freaking me out… I’ll be there okay and don’t do anything stupid.”
His phone slides out from his grasp and fell onto the floor with a loud thud.
“Jin?”
The thought of Kazuya leaving him alone broke him down.

He woke up with a start and looked around him. Feeling the dull throbbing in his head, he groaned softly, lying back down on the bed. After realizing the fact that he was in his room and on his bed, he frowned. He remembered perfectly well that he was having a bath before.
“You woke up…”
Jin stared at the person beside the bed in surprise.
“You scared the hell out of me…” the person said again looking relieved, and after a while, a frown etched onto the other’s face. “What the hell were you thinking sleeping in the tub like that? I don’t know if my heart could take it if anything happens to you.”
“What happened?” he finally asked.
Kazuya looked at him angrily, “You’re unbelievable!”
“Ah… looks like the idiot friend has woken up.”
Jin glanced at the door, and there was Pi looking irritated but he didn’t miss the relieved look in his friend’s eyes. Pi sighed.
“You slept in the tub, and somehow, because you were probably drunk, you slipped into the water unconscious and almost drowned. You were lucky that I knew CPR.”
Jin immediately turned to look at Kazuya by his side. The younger man was frowning at him, biting his lower lip as if trying to stop himself from crying.
“Kazuya…” Jin whispered reaching out his hand towards the other. “I’m sorry.”
“Pi… I’m sorry…” He whispered again turning to the door.
“You’re forgiven,” Pi said gently and added, “But I’m not sure about Kazuya though.”
Jin gazed at Kazuya and the younger one finally burst, “You dumbass, don’t you realize what you’re making me feel? How could you do this to me?!... And you’re making me cry again… I hate you.”
He pulled the other towards him, murmuring his apologies and after a while, the younger man in his embrace relaxed and he could hear Kazuya’s soft sniffles against his shoulder.
“Don’t toss my heart around like that…”
Jin tightened his embrace, hushing the smaller figure gently. Though he was feeling guilty, he couldn’t help but to feel happy that Kazuya still puts him first.

“Wipe that grin off your face, it annoys me.”
Pi was sitting on the bedside staring at him rather menacingly and Jin immediately stopped smiling. After crying his heart out, Kazuya had excused himself and went into the bathroom.
Pi gave out a deep sigh and Jin noticed that Pi’s eyes were quite swollen too.
“Pi… you’ve been crying too?”
“Shut up, Jin…” another sigh, “We thought we had already lost you… and of course I cried, I’m your friend,” Pi closed his eyes, “Kazuya was hysterical when we saw you in the tub and it pained me to see him that way, and that’s why it annoys me when you grinned like that.”
Jin looked at his hands. “I’m sorry… it’s just I couldn’t help to feel happy seeing him here.”
“Have you thought of what Kazuya would feel when something does happen to you?”
Jin bit his lip and shook his head feeling guilty. He had never thought about Kazuya’s feelings.
“I’ve done something bad haven’t I?”
He felt a hand pat his head, “It’s not bad. Telling him your true feelings, it’s not wrong.” Jin glanced up to see his friend smiling at him warmly, “Things might turn complicated, but it would be more complicated if you keep them bottled up in you.”
Pi’s warm smile widened, “Talk to him and straighten things up.”

Jin frowned slightly at the cramped space on his bed.
“No… please don’t eat that…” Pi mumbled incoherently, his arms slamming against his chest.
Irritated, he shove Pi’s arm away and turned his body to the other side of the bed, and was face to face with the person that he had lost his heart to. He gazed at the peaceful face beside him.
“How could someone as gentle as you be so insensitive?” he whispered softly.
Kazuya groaned softly and before he could turn away, the other had opened his eyes and was looking at him in a daze.
“Jin?”
“…”
“Can’t sleep?” Kazuya rubbed his eyes with his fist.
“Uh… Pi keeps on hitting me in his sleep…”
A yawn, “Come here.”
Eh?
Without a word, Kazuya pulled him into a hug, nuzzling absently against his neck, causing him to squirm.
“Insensitive bastard,” he mumbled softly and he could feel the arm around him shake slightly.
“I heard that,” a soft chuckle and a sigh, “Do you want me to let go of you?”
Jin shook his head. “No… I never want you to let go…”
As if knowing what he really meant by his words, Kazuya softly replied, “And don’t you let go off me either.”
There was silence, and judging from Kazuya’s evened breaths, he was sure that the other was already sleeping.
“Kazuya, what am I to you?”
He smiled to himself, feeling a little bit of an idiot for hoping that the other would hear it and reply, but when he was about to doze off, he felt the arms around him tighten and a whisper,
“You’re my everything…”

“Jin?”

“Messed up?”
“Kazuya won’t care about me anymore…”
“Jin… what the hell are you saying?”

“Shit… Jin…” he could hear Pi curse softly, “You’re freaking me out… I’ll be there okay and don’t do anything stupid.”
His phone slides out from his grasp and fell onto the floor with a loud thud.

“I’ve done something bad haven’t I?”
He felt a hand pat his head, “It’s not bad. Telling him your true feelings, it’s not wrong.” Jin glanced up to see his friend smiling at him warmly, “Things might turn complicated, but it would be more complicated if you keep them bottled up in you.”
Pi’s warm smile widened, “Talk to him and straighten things up.”

Jin frowned slightly at the cramped space on his bed.
“No… please don’t eat that…” Pi mumbled incoherently, his arms slamming against his chest.
Irritated, he shove Pi’s arm away and turned his body to the other side of the bed, and was face to face with the person that he had lost his heart to. He gazed at the peaceful face beside him.
“How could someone as gentle as you be so insensitive?” he whispered softly.
Kazuya groaned softly and before he could turn away, the other had opened his eyes and was looking at him in a daze.
“Jin?”
“…”
“Can’t sleep?” Kazuya rubbed his eyes with his fist.
“Uh… Pi keeps on hitting me in his sleep…”
A yawn, “Come here.”
Eh?
Without a word, Kazuya pulled him into a hug, nuzzling absently against his neck, causing him to squirm.
“Insensitive bastard,” he mumbled softly and he could feel the arm around him shake slightly.
“I heard that,” a soft chuckle and a sigh, “Do you want me to let go of you?”
Jin shook his head. “No… I never want you to let go…”
As if knowing what he really meant by his words, Kazuya softly replied, “And don’t you let go off me either.”
There was silence, and judging from Kazuya’s evened breaths, he was sure that the other was already sleeping.
“Kazuya, what am I to you?”
He smiled to himself, feeling a little bit of an idiot for hoping that the other would hear it and reply, but when he was about to doze off, he felt the arms around him tighten and a whisper,
“You’re my everything…”
