CHAPTER 9
Kazuya stared at the building in front of him. The lights were still on, he noted. It means the other are still in his store, in his office.
It had been a week since he saw Jin around. He bit his lip frowning deeply while his right hand continued to wipe the glass window in front of him. Jin was obviously avoiding him because he had miraculously not seeing the other when his grandpa said that Jin did went to the store buying groceries.
Sighing softly, he remembered what had happened.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
“Because I wanted you to…”
Kazuya blinked in disbelief. Jin made him forget? It’s rather hard to believe that Jin could make him forget. Didn’t he have to get into an accident and hit his head somewhere then had amnesia? Well, that is what he knew after watching a lot of dramas. But, when he looked at the other’s pained expression he wanted to believe it.
“Aren’t you going to ask why?” Jin’s voice trembled softly.
Kazuya opened his mouth decided to ask what Jin had expected him to ask but when he saw the scared look on the other’s face he bite his tongue. He had forgotten about the past, why would he revel into it again? He should let it go. He stared at Jin’s hand that was gripping his tightly. He would let it go.
Kazuya cleared his throat. “I don’t want to revel in the past anymore.”
Jin looked at him surprise, his grip loosening and Kazuya immediately took hold of Jin’s hand.
“Now… is what matter the most. I…” Kazuya leaned closer. “I think … that I… like this.”
Jin’s eyes widened and Kazuya started to feel unsure. It does sound like a confession but truthfully he actually liked this. He liked Jin around and he was scared that if he knew the past he would hated the other because it seems like the other was implying that he did.
Kazuya smiled in assurance but the other was far from looking relieved. He didn’t like the way Jin looked at him right now. It was as if, he could do and say anything that would make the older man break. He frowned.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?”
The older man looked away and Kazuya’s frown deepened. He had practically confessed to the other and this is what he gets?
“Look at me.”
Jin didn’t even budged and Kazuya started to get impatient.
“I already told you that I don’t car….” But Jin cuts him off.
“I love you damn it! I always loved you and I know that I should be happy when you told me all that. But what if someday you remembered and hated me?”
Kazuya was speechless and Jin continued.
“I don’t think I could handle anymore heartbreak.”
Silence and when every words sink in his head, Kazuya retorted back feeling hurt and angry.
“And why did you meddle with my life the second time?”
Jin looked at him guiltily and tried to reach for him but Kazuya quickly backed away.
“You’re selfish. I don’t want to see you anymore.”
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Kazuya rested his head against the mirror. He had walked home that day and Jin didn’t even bother to look back for him. It’s not that he wanted Jin to but at least…
Kazuya sighed. Jin was avoiding him and here he was standing in front of the store, wiping the mirror in the middle of the night hoping to catch a glimpse of the other. He was acting a love sick teenager while the other didn’t seem to care anymore. Well, he did say that he didn’t want to see Jin anymore but he really didn’t mean it. He was angry. People do say spiteful words when they’re angry.
He somehow missed Jin and his smirks, his stupid grin, his remarks and the way Jin giving him quick stolen glances every time Mika flirts with him. Kazuya hit his head against the window. Yeah, we tend to take things for granted.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
“You’re stupid Jin. Just go and see him. I really think he didn’t mean what he said.”
Jin sighed. “But what he said is the truth. I’m selfish.”
“And stupid,” the person at the other line added.
“Stop insulting me Pi. It doesn’t make me feel better.”
“You deserved the insults.” Pi sighed loudly. “After all the trouble in trying to get him you backed out at the last minute?”
“I’m scared okay.”
A defeated sigh, “What if one day, you woke up and realized that he’s not there anymore. What would you do? Just sit at the corner and cry?”
“I…”
“It’s enough for me to saw it once. I don’t want to see your ugly crying face anymore.”
Just then, he heard someone banging at his door. After saying goodbye to Pi, he hurriedly went down the stairs and when he saw the person at the door his heart practically stopped.
It was Kazuya, banging at his door with a panicked look on his face and when the younger one saw him, a relief smile broke onto the other’s face.
“Jin…”
It was the first time Kazuya called his name after a long time.
“Jin… please open the door.”
The desperation in Kazuya’s voice broke his reverie and he quickly does what the other had told him to. When he finally opens the door, Kazuya immediately clings onto his shirt.
“It’s my grandpa. He’s missing. And it’s already late. That old man where…”
Jin wrapped his arms around Kazuya murmuring, “Relax, we’ll look for him together okay?”
He felt Kazuya nodded against his already slight damp chest. It was then he decided, to hell with heartbreaks. As long as he could hold the other like this it’ll be okay. He’ll be okay.
………………………………………………………………………………………….
They stopped in front of Manami-chan’s house. Kazuya turned to look at Jin at the driver seat.
“Are you sure that he would be here?”
Jin smiled and Kazuya could feel his heart skipped a beat.
“I’m sure of it. He would be here.”
In silence, they got out of the car and he stared at Jin’s broad back when the other tried to unlock the door and gasped softly when realizing that the door wasn’t locked.
“Wait outside.”
Kazuya shook his head. “I want to go in too.”
Jin sighed and nodded his head. “Okay, but stay close.”
It was quiet and dark when they entered the house. Instinctively, Jin took hold of his hand when they climbed up the stairs and Kazuya felt himself blushed.
Stop it Kazuya. Your grandpa is missing and all you could think is Jin’s hand around yours?
He shook his head slightly and Jin turned looking at him quizzically.
“Nothing,” he whispered.
They continued to walk when Jin abruptly stop and ducked behind a closet pulling him forcefully that he landed onto the other’s lap. He gave out a small yelp and was about to complain when Jin clasped his mouth.
He glared at the other but when he heard and saw what Jin had witnessing before they huddled on the floor behind a closet; he immediately blushed looking at Jin.
“Are they doing what I think they are doing?” his question doesn’t make sense but he knew Jin understands.
“I guess… looks like it.” Though it was dark, he knew that Jin was blushing too.
Realizing the close proximity they in, Kazuya quickly picked himself off from Jin’s lap and made himself comfortable beside the other.
“We can’t leave without them noticing.” Jin stated.
They sit there quietly couldn’t stop themselves from listening to their grandparents conversations and love proclamations. It was awkward. Definitely awkward but both didn’t say anything. And it was after a while when his grandpa and Manami-chan finally went into a room that Jin spoke.
“Do you think… do you think that I could have another chance?”
Kazuya turned to his side. It was dark but he could see Jin’s face perfectly well, his expression and nervousness. Without saying anything,
Kazuya leaned towards Jin and gave the other a soft kiss. Kazuya could feel Jin’s hesitance and sighing softly, he murmured against the other’s lips.
“Just kiss me already.”
And that’s the only encouragement Jin needed.
