i haven't really been close to you since high school...so i can't rightly comment on anything that has happened since then...

but it sounds like you really have thought this through. i say go to see a recruiter (i prefer marines, but that's just me) and see what he/she has to say. Of course, they will say that the military is the answer...but it should give you at least a bit of a better idea about it.

all in all, if you think it is the answer - then go for it! better to have made a valiant effort and possibly fail than to have made no effort at all.
