UNDERGROUND REPORTS
Police led to destroyed illegal lab in Abyss
An anonymous tipoff led the police to a destroyed laboratory in the Abyss that was discovered to have been conducting illegal experiments on a large number of subjects abducted from the Terra.
The police received an anonymous phone call early in the morning, reporting a "matter of importance." Delayed by the built up snow, police arrived on scene several hours later and discovered a shocking scene.
Approximately fifty people were found on the site, the great majority of whom were later identified as persons who had gone missing from Terra up to years ago. Also in the building, police discovered approximately twenty people locked in a storage room. These people were later identified by the other survivors as the operators of the laboratory.
Further investigation led to the discovery of experiment data corresponding to a variety of highly illegal tests conducted on the survivors. Also discovered in the building were the bodies of approximately thirty others, in various stages of decay.
The laboratory personnel have been taken into police custody, held in maximum security, and will be put on trial under charges of
unlicensed scientific experimentation, abduction, and first- and second-degree murder.
The survivors have been admitted to the Neo Genesis General Hospital. Family members will be contacted as soon as possible to ensure their safe return.
Police are currently investigating those responsible for the destruction of the laboratory. Survivors have stated that they were freed by a group of five men wearing bird-shaped masks, but were unable to identify what had been used to destroy the lab facilities.
A path through the snow to the location had been cleared, and the building's interior was severely damaged by unknown means. Evidence suggested that explosives had been used inside, but police were unable to reach a conclusion as to the other methods utilized by the culprits.
Though charges will not be pressed against those responsible, police are intent on finding the party responsible. Though witnesses were few due to the heavy snow, evidence suggests that an organization called the Scar Chain may have been behind the attack.
