I always like to think these days will never come. I like to put it in the back of my mind, because even the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. It's something I've gone through many times in my life, but it never gets easier. It's these days I dread ( Read more... )

I'm sorry David. =[ At least she isn't suffering anymore. Nothing I can say will make it better but time heals all wounds. It's horrible when great dogs pass away. Just remember...

I know in time I'll come to terms with it, but you're right, it hurts like hell now.

i love you david!

I am so sorry for your loss.

im not really good with words when it comes to death, but things will get better in time..

she's not in pain anymore, that was one of the most un-selfish, beautiful things that you and your family could ever do for her.

I'm so sorry, David. I will always maintain that losing a pet is as hard as losing a best friend. Dogs are selfless, loving, forgiving, loyal, perfect creatures. And I know how much you love yours. She may be in a better place, but that doesn't make it any better for you. There is a lovely poem I read whenever I miss my old dog, Halo:

If tears could build a staircase
and memories a lane
I'd climb right up to heaven
and bring you home again ...

She'll always be in your heart, safe forever, and at peace.

Thank you, sweetheart. I used to like the phrase that "she's up there in heaven, guarding your halo and wings for when you see her again." Wish I still believed that now.

But you're right, she will always be safe and at peace in my heart.

But you know, just because you don't believe in heaven doesn't make it unreal. Maybe there is a heaven, and if so, she's up there with all the angels and saints. And they'll take care of her. Either way, she's at peace.

David, I'm sorry about your dog.

My dog of 12 years got put to sleep a few months ago, and it was one of the saddest things ever.
