Yes, I got a nap this afternoon, thanks to my mother-in-law, who watched the older kids. My wife is up and walking around.
And David? It turns out that he extubated himself. Pulled the damn thing out, and said WAAAAA, which is baby talk for "I don't need no stinkin' ventilator!" He's on nasal oxygen only now, and tomorrow AM, if he continues to improve, they should take out his umbilical artery catheter, so his Mom and I can hold him.
We got to feed Sam today, which was fun. He is SO tiny. But spunky.
I also got to fill out the birth certificate form. Question #4 is "Are parents married?" If the answer is no, there is a whole attestation of parenthood section to fill out. A sad commentary on our times. I was happy to answer yes.
A question halfway down asked "race." I resisted the (tremendous) temptation to answer "Human."
