I hope so too. Automatically assuming the worse sometimes just makes our lives more stressful. It certainly is an empowering experience though - no matter what your family's reaction.

She sounds nice. And that period of time where your parents process things - scary. I'm glad we're luckier than some in this department. *contented sigh*

If I hosted the game - they'd already know. Somehow in my mind that puts me as not only the host, but in a purple suit smelling of potpourri as well. LOL!

I think you should go for a Christmas Card-type thing and mail them to every single family member, quickly explaining everything. =)
