I don't wanna sound cheesy, or any of that crap. i know sometimes it helps to talk to people who are way outside the situation. If you want drop me a line on my cell or online.
I've never read The Taming of the Shrew and only know it, rather sadly, through its most recent adaptation, Ten Things I Hate About You. But, and I think I speak for everyone when I say this, that movie rocks, so I'm sure the play does, too.
I'm finished with Cane if you want to borrow it. You should also read Nella Larsen's Quicksand, which I am currently, as I type, avoiding writing a paper on. My copy got a little beat up--one of my residents dumped hot chocolate all over it--but you'd be welcome to it, anyway. Her descriptions feel like photographs.

You won't get to a point where you no longer feel something is missing for a while though.
