'O Hari's Game ... Or why I don't do personality tests

My Johari/Nohari results are in - and there was only one choice there I found anything resembling a surprise. I also think that everyone who commented would approximately agree on who I am. On the other hand, there was only one word (intelligent) that appeared in more than half the answers and three others (proud, energetic and calm) that ( Read more... )

For me, the interest value of personality tests lies, not in taking then and finding out amazing eternal truths about yourself, but in pondering these things. I'm not sure any personality test result has ever really given me an insight but taking the tests and working out why I disagree with the results and the dichotomies and stuff does give me food for thought.

That worked for me about twice. After that it just got tedious.

Yeah, fair enough. I've only really bothered twice - with Myers Briggs and Enneagram. Silly Quizilla things are just silly things. I don't think either system fits me very well although both have their points but working out why I disagreed with the system was an interesting exercise.

*toys with the idea of sending you to Emode, that glorious site which asks questions like "Do you dislike getting out of bed in the mornings?" and cunningly deduces "You are probably not a morning person."*

And *of course* Enneagram testing is confused by you - you cross triads! 1/2 suffers similar confusion, though somehow 4/5 tends to manage - abstraction, living in head? I think 8/9 is the largest paradox.

I think 8/9 is pretty strange to contemplate theoretically in one's head. When you know people who are like that, it becomes much easier. Ditto 2/1. But, then, the number of winged combinations that truly make sense to me in my head is very small.
