I don't know who out there might be interested, but I might be able to get a couple people a free four-day pass for GenCon Indy, assuming you are willing to put in a few volunteer hours. Interested?
OK, here's the deal. The past couple of years I have helped out the fine people at Z-Man Games (they make the B-movie card games like Grave Robbers From Outer Space, among other games) to run theor Hong Kong Action Movie Room. It's a very simple thing: you sit in the room to make sure the equipment doesn't walk off, and start movies based on the posted schedule. Movies are generally Hong Kong martial arts films, and have included such classics as Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, and the Once Upon a Time in China films. All are highly entertaining.
Anyway, this year, he emailed me basically asking me to handle it for the whole weekend. He wants me to find people to staff it a minimum of 12-hours a day for Thursday-Saturday and a few hours on Sunday. He will supply the videos and equipment, and badges for my volunteers. All I need to do is supply the man, err, peoplepower, to staff the room. Since I have complete control over the work schedules, I will try to accommodate everyone's preferences for shifts. I've already got a couple people lined up to help out, but could use at least one more. Also, depending on how many hours people work, he has also typically provided additional compensation with games from the Z-Man Games booth. However, he needs to know by the end of the month if I can pull it off, so if you would like to help, let me know. If you are not local to Indy, I can probably provide crash space at my place (provided you are on my friend list), though it's not the most convenient location for the convention center. Probably about 20 minutes are so, not including time to park.
Oh yeah, GenCon is Aug. 10-13. Yep, it's "four days of gaming," running Thursday-Sunday. And I do need commitments, I'm afraid, because once I tell him we can do it, I have to do it. Let me know if you are interested or have questions.
