I'm only considering quilting as a new hobby (I currently knit) and am planning to take a beginner class early next year.

I found a new Janome 3128 machine on sale for $79 with free shipping.

Is this a good machine for a beginner quilter? Is $79 a good deal?

$100 is my budget for a new machine.

(Here from the quilting lj group) Yes, that's a good deal, and Janome is a solid brand. I'm the reverse - quilting is a passion and I've forbidden myself knitting until the kids leave home, because I *know* I'll wind up with a bit of a yarn habit :)
