WELL, I once read this series set in feudal japan, and if you suicided, you cut open your stomach (yeah.. not pretty), so here, Sungmin was basically saying: to attack china is the same as suicide :)

and yeah :/ not nice.....
it's the same kinda thing where punishment is to cut off your hands or pull out your fingernails or -dragged away-
but yeah, feudal punishments/execution methods are pretty :/
