The science explanation given is bogus. There's no plasma involved.

The bacon plays no role once the steel starts burning.

(You can demonstrate this with an oxy-acetylene torch. Once you've started the steel burning, you can turn off the acetylene and continue cutting with just oxygen.)

Yeah, reading through the comments section points out a few inaccuracies:

prosciutto != bacon
fuel torch (what this is): 5k deg F
plasma torch: 30-50k deg F

If a hollowed-out cucumber worked, I'm surprised he didn't try a hollowed-out salami.
