Sometimes I feel like this is a really terrible time to be alive in this world. Terrorism, beheadings, paranoia, religious fundamentalism, nationalism, child hostages, anti-Americanism, and the erosion of civil rights back home in the US. I could try to shut out all of this depressing shit and just focus on being a happy little MA student studying

Yeah, that's interesting- in my view that's one of the real effects of Bush's non-existant international relations policies! People abroad do feel more negative towards Americans unfortunately- even though they are obviously lumping all Americans together not realizing that many Americans actually don't agree with his politics.

Some people would argue 'yes but it's the fault of those people, they shouldn't judge like that', but the reality is, that's what people do...
