The ballet on Monday night was awesome! It consisted of three 30-minute performances: Petrushka, Les Sylphides, and the Firebird. The costumes and sets were beautiful, and of course the music was awesome. I love Stravinsky ( Read more... )

Though I don't know his boss and won't accept any responsibility for mistakes in this matter, I'd be surprised if je/jij wouldn't be the better choice. You never know though, and I suppose it's better to be corrected for being too polite than too informal.

I fall in more in love with A'dam all the time. My first time there, confronted with the Damrak and Kalvestraat left me with a poor impression...but how wrong I was. It is truly a wonderful city in which one never stops discovering.

I too have struggled with the u / je debate. As a rule of thumb, start with u. There is a good chance that you will quickly be told that is not necessary and that you can say je...but better safe than sorry. However, don't stress. People are usually forgiving about such formalities with non-native speakers.
