the prodigal LJ-er returns

May 15, 2007 12:25

It feels a bit strange to be posting again after having neglected this journal for more than two years... I hadn't planned on ever returning to LJ, but my thesis advisor recommended that I start keeping a journal to get back into the habit of writing in English, so here I am again. I suppose I could've just started from scratch somewhere else, but ( Read more... )

Thanks! :)
Haha, I wasn't sure if anyone would read this at all... I certainly wasn't expecting a comment so quickly! How've you been? I need to catch up on various peoples' journals, but two years' worth of entries is a lot of ground to cover... :-/

Not bad, in many ways the same... and in some ways different :)

Hm last 2 years... main events were vacations I guess- to Oman last Xmas, Denmark, California coast... etc.

Job's still pretty much the same but going well, I did a year-long course in massage therapy just for fun, hoping to move sometime soon.

Sounds like you've made a lot of progress in the last 2 years though! I know how tough it can be adjusting to a new country, it's not easy ;)

*BLINKS!!*

Woot, welcome back! I am at work right now so can't properly read your entry - but will for sure do so at home!

Nice to hear from you again, many many times I have wondered how you were doing and whether everything was going okay. Had lost your e-mail address and such :|

I hope you'll manage to keep updating some more often :)

Thanks, it's good to be back! :) I'm sorry I just sort of disappeared one day... I feel bad that I didn't at least post something saying I needed a break from LJ for a while, but it was really one of those things where I was so miserable and depressed that I just wasn't thinking about anyone but myself. Not cool, but at least I've now seen the error of my ways... ;-)

This post was pretty tentative, too, but I really wasn't sure if anyone would still be reading my journal and if so, if they would actually care. But I'd like to try getting back into LJ, as long as I'm careful not to spend *too* much time goofing around online. :)

What've you been up to in the mean time? I still need to go back and read peoples' journals to catch up on stuff, but that'll take me a while...

(btw I switched journals while you were MIA and during the process of renaming I got ditched off your friends-off list, so if you would be so kind to add me back that'd be wonderful ( ... )

Doh you studied in Utrecht for a whole year at the same department as I studied heh:) Although during that time I was so busy with family stuff I hardly ever visited uni any longer..

I am glad to hear you're doing so well now! I'd love to meet up one day for real finally btw ;-) I miss speaking american english :p Now that Tan and I are no longer together I don't foresee spending that much time in the USA any longer like I used to over the past years unfortunately.

Wow, it's great to see you back! I think everyone has been wondering what happened to you! I made friends with linearb and a Dutch couple who claim to know you! Small world, eh? I'm glad to hear everything is going to well!

Strangely, we met through mutual friends at my birthday party last year! (This was one of the couple-- she was dressed as a birthday cake even though she didn't know it was my birthday. She sang "happy birthday" to me in Dutch.) He mentioned that I had you on my friends list and I told him we were childhood friends and he freaked out. Funny stuff, eh? We were both wondering where you had wandered off to.

I've been well! I don't want to bore your pants off by giving you details, but so far so good. I'm still in Austin and loving every second of it!

Yeah that was me and the cake was my (American) girlfriend, Chantal. It was Halloween and we dressed up as cake+birthday boy, we didn't know there was a real birthday!!

Welkom terug op Livejournal, Megan! I know exactly how you feel, by the way, everytime I speak Dutch, which is only like once a week with my mom, I feel like I'm using "English-isms"!! "Is that a real Dutch word and did I just use that preposition correctly?".

Als je weer eens terug bent in Austin, laat het even weten, en dan spreken we wat af. Ik heb ook nog steeds af en toe contact met Linear en Sultana, trouwens!

Hi!!!!

Da's lang geleden :)

I still had you on my friendslist and so I did see, and READ your entry; how cool that you found your way back and even better that you seem to have found your way in life.
*proud* good job!!
