- I do hope this isn't a final mix because it sounds like you're off in a closet somewhere in the back of the room (you probably actually were... but we don't want it to sound that way

LOL! nothing assholish about real criticism. I appreciate it even if I don't feel comfortable passing it on.
Yeah... a little disappointed. I thought it was better before they added the backing vocals. This is not the best recording of my vocals and the harmonies don't help at all, plus it left no open space in the emotive part. Honestly I told Don at the time we recorded the vocals that it was too slow, and I'd be willing to bet it's Don playing drums. The drums definitely lie there like a beached whale.
It probably would've been better recorded live, but it wasn't. It was recorded by laying it down a track at a time. I've nailed that song enough times we could've done it--except we seldom all nailed it at the same time!
I am still happy to have it and I might even share it with my family :)

BEACHED WHALE! YES!! HAHAHA! Yeah, it's a shame.. I mean, I can hear in there that you guys could pull it off, but it just didn't happen.
I agree, if you guys could have even done it in a studio, set up on seperate tracks, with the guitars running direct, and the vocals in a booth (putting the backgrounds in after the fact).. even that would have been much better.
But hey, you gotta work with what you can figure out. :)
I am glad though that you do have a momento from the band now.

Me too. I worked a long time with them. I just wish it were a little better; I really would like to get some work singing here and I don't think this is a good demo.
