*locked from everyone but Duncan*
When I woke up on Veronica's couch I felt like I'd been run over by a bus. That was a lame pun considering people died on a bus thanks to one of my best friends, Cassidy, but what can I say, I'm a natural comedian. It had been a rough night full of twists and turns that left everyone shaking. It was hard to imagine Keith Mars really being dead. Like out of all the parents who deserved to die why the hell would the one good parent bite the big one? I was waiting for a call about my father. It had all been worked out before hand. If my old man was cleared of charges, then Duncan and me would take care of it. Lilly and Veronica would get their justice. Hell, we'd get our justice too. The plan had been to have an alibi. Boy did I have an alibi, and I knew Duncan did too. I would act devastated and surprised when the call came in, and it turned out that it wouldn't be hard.
I was already devastated about what went down with Beaver. Then the surprise came when the door opened and in walked Veronica's dad. He was alive, thank god, and it was like the first real sign that maybe the entire world wasn't a pile of shit. She needed him so bad, and he came through for her. Just like a father is supposed too. I made my excuses to leave and was half way to Duncan's when the call came in. There was no sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. No tears of anguish or even relief. I just listened as I was notified as next of kin that my father had been killed. Then I made the call to Trina and sounded shocked as I listened to her scream and drop the phone. The next call was to my lawyer to get the arrangements made. After that I went straight to my best friend like any grieving son would and we began making funeral arrangements for Aaron Echolls, disgraced Hollywood star, widowed father of two.
