Sam had been up late the night before, trying to just get everything done with his patrol and trying to keep things in order and then there was an argument with Dean about the prank war and how maybe they should declare truce, just for a little while.

He'd passed out late and was still asleep, deep in REM and oblivious to the sound of screams, until the knock at the door. Sam turned over in bed, peering blearily to see if Dean was around and pushed to his feet, stumbling towards the door and pulling it open, rubbing at his eyes. It was either Dean or Veronica or someone else visiting.

Okay, so a girl at the door was... a little disconcerting, actually, but Veronica shrugged it off. She didn't know what was up with Dean's love life or if he even had one, but it so wasn't something she was interested in finding out about.

"Hi, sorry," she said, since it looked like she'd woken her up. "I was just looking for Sam. Is he in there?" She leaned a little to the side to peer around the woman and into the hut.

Sam just stood there, staring at Veronica in shock and wondering since when he'd gone all invisible. "Uh, Veronica?" he offered.

Oh.

Oh, okay.

So that girlish pitch of his voice and looking down -- okay, breasts, yeah, that was weird -- and he was more on Veronica's level and his ... her eyes widened.

And that was when Veronica turned her head back and up - but not that far up - and looked, really looked, at the girl in front of her. All she could do was stare, mouth hanging open and the words not coming at first. At last, she just said, "Oh god."
