It was, these days, a rare thing to catch Veronica Mars alone. Though she had ample offers to babysit from the Halperts' many friends, she didn't make use of them nearly as often as she could - perhaps should - have done, preferring to watch Sam herself as much as possible. "It's no big."

It really wasn't. There were worse things that she had been forced to step around that a pile of books hardly even phased her. Stepping around them, she adjusted her makeshift knapsack as she crouched down to pick the books up off the floor. Veronica bent down to gather up the rest, slipping them haphazard onto the shelf with a crooked grin. "I generally prefer to leave the absurd natural acts to the unnatural forces of the island," she said, "so that's probably for the best. Although it'd be kinda cool." "It would be, but then this place would get it into its head that you are the perfect vessel to operate through."

That sort of thing probably didn't happen. It was rare enough that it happened back home where the gods were real and walking around and monsters liked to feast on the flesh of the young. Thalia really doubted that this place was about to take that page out of her book.

"Could be terrifying or terrifyingly awesome."

"I'm gonna go with terrifying," said Veronica, who was less than thrilled by the idea of being the hand of the gods or whatever they were. She'd had more than enough of anyone but herself being in control of her life. Still she smirked and shrugged, half-leaning against the bookshelf. "Mostly because if, one of these days, someone gets up on the roof and announces they're the island's insert religious figure of choice here, I'm not gonna be too surprised."
