Something was licking her.

Veronica Mars wrinkled up her nose, bewildered, as she jerked back and eased herself onto her palms at the same time. Her eyes flew open and unconsciously she reached out in search of her taser before she realized she didn't have one anymore.

"I woke up and she was, like, licking me," Veronica said, shrugging. "Look at the tag. She's for me, apparently, and..." She trailed off shaking her head. "I didn't hear anyone come in last night, did you?"

The puppy didn't seem to much mind having been pushed away. She was returning to Veronica now, inspecting the bed along the way, and already Veronica's mind was hunting for names.
