What a week

Whew. I feel like I've been riding a rollercoaster for a week. I can't remember the last time I was this emotional on a day-to-day basis. I think it's because I've felt out of control on so many things, my money is draining away, and I'm overwhelmed with the amount of work that lies ahead of me. Paul watched me break down into a puddle of tears twice this week. I think that's happened maybe five times in the seven years we've been together so twice in a week is excessive!

However. Today I am feeling positive and confident. Whew. Paul and our friend Justin made huge headway on the patio yesterday. Look!

This was how it looked at the end of the day Thursday.

This is how it looked at the end of the day Saturday.

Having Justin come to work with Paul was what turned things around for me. When I was trying to work back there I would get so angry and upset that all I could see were the problems and the seemingly insurmountable amount of work that needed to be done. I didn't understand the engineering, the string lines or how we were going to be able to lay the blocks so the water would flow properly. And, as I am a person who is vocal about their concerns, I subjected Paul to my complaining and whining. Poor guy! He is such a sweetie and I remind myself every day how lucky I am to have him in my life. I'd be up the creek without a paddle if it weren't for him.

In other news, I had a couple of successful firings this week. I showed two dinnerware sets in my last picture post. Here are two more:

I call this one "Summer"

This one is called "Garden"

Now. To get people into the shop to buy this stuff.

I bet twenty people came into the place this week and only a couple of them were customers. I didn't anticipate this happening! I get sales people, transients, people who want to "help" me work in the studio, people looking for work.

I have a lot of plans for the gallery for the end of August and all of September. I'll write about them in a separate post.

BVW and I have two mediations next week. One is private and we'll get a good rate; the other is through the courts which doesn't pay as well. But, both are going to put some money into my pocket which is a huge relief!

Today is a day off. We're watching recorded coverage of some Olympic events. I'm going to go to the farmers market in a little while, and we're going to a co-ed baby shower this afternoon.
