good post! First off, I'd have to say that if I had to pick ONE category of nerdish, I'd either be the classic "computer nerd" as well. OR the bookworm one. I'm kinda like a mixed breed. but i love it.
SECOND. I believe the difference between nerds and geeks are: Geeks- they wear the nerd attire [tucked in shirt, glasses, cow lick hair, button up dress shirts] Geeks also visit bookstores often and would be classed as your highly intelectual peer. Ask them for help on your math homework.
Nerds- they possess the nerdish actions. Tripping over "rocks" [nothing], waving to people they don't know to show they are "social" [not], hanging out in the computer lab and showing off their sweet hacking skills, and collecting carpet lint for a hobby. May also be considered clutz's.
Neeks or Gerds are a cross-breed between the two. Those are your fine, Grade A specimens wich have attained all the nerd and geek qualities. They're the ones that get far in life.
I think the difference between a nerd and a geek is a nerd can be someone that just knows a lot about a certain subject, but a geek has to be socially awkward and weird. Also I consider myself a bookwork/music nerd as I suck at Math.
a nerd can still be cool, but a geek entails having no friends (well, okay, i have no friends, but uhh) and being extremely socially awkward and gawky and whatnot.
But anyway, Alexi and I joke that we're nerds in disguise.
Because I have cute clothes and I listen to good music and I'm into fashion and whatnot, but lurking underneath that is a nerd!
hahaha I just re read that and I spoted my nerd-dom...
El, being a 'nerd in disguise' is the best way to be a nerd. People who are not nerdy listen to Michelle Branch and John Mayer and wear whatever everybody else in their frat wears or whatever they see on The OC.
Good taste is a nerd trait just as much as bad taste is in my opinion. Maybe it all boils down to marching to the beat of your own drum??
