Five Favourite Movies, day 2
The Philadelphia Story
Yes, another Cary Grant film. I didn't see this one until I was in my teens, but again, I fell in love with it instantly. It has its troubling elements (Tracy's father is the fucking worst, for a start), but god, I could watch it all day. I quote from it on an almost daily basis, the subtitle of my LJ is taken from it, basically I can play the thing on a loop in my brain.
And that's, in large part, because of Dexter and Tracy. They were my OTP at a time when I didn't really even know what that meant.
Rich, judgemental woman + equally rich, alcoholic man. (They grew up together, you know)
They fall in love. (Is there no such thing as privacy any more? Only in the bedroom, and not always then)
They break up. (Cruelty and drunkenness, they said)
Man fixes himself. (I was trying to give up drinking; I read a lot of things)
Woman realises she's not as perfect as she thought, BUT THAT THAT'S OKAY. (I'm such an unholy mess of a girl)
They get back together. (You can be whatever you want, you're my red-head)
DOES THIS REMIND YOU OF ANYONE?
In case you need a hint, here's a picture I reblogged on Tumblr yeeeeaaars ago, with the caption I added:
Left to right: Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, Dan Humphrey, Louis Grimaldi
No one will ever convince me otherwise.
