Distraction from today and the universe's sense of humor

Hadn't originally planned to do this one, but it's been a pretty crappy day (got a ticket that I definitely earned, but seriously can't afford)so I thought it might be nice to look back at better...or at least more interesting...times ( Read more... )

Add to this list: Had a French soldier point an automatic rifle at your head with full intention of using it if you continued to snead about his outpost.

and

Had a giant bald guido in a salmon pink tie follow you about the Little Trianon.

Also add: Been rescued by both of above by Catt-who-was-more-aware-than-I

and

Played the I'm-with-her card in two states and three countries to avoid attentions of overly drunk bystanders. Claiming to be on lesbian honeymoon in Lille had mixed results on horrified/fascinated Lebanese.

and one I'd nearly forgotten:

stopped traffic with my breasts in Paris. (though I still don't think this is as cool as having had someone buy your breasts a round of schnapps)

aaah, good times!

y'all are great, and Minnesota is unquestionably beautiful, but I'm a sunshine girl...when the weather gets grey so do I. I'll take my winter weather in small increments and visits, thanks!

Wow. You have such a cool life. You slept in a graveyard? I don't know if that's scary or awesome, but I'm leaning towards awesome.

These are the incidents that I refer to as Arianna's Dumb Luck, although in several cases I worked bloody hard for them. It works both ways. *grin* Yeah, that was fun, in a waking up cold and creaky kind of way. Later on during that trip I slept out on (or rather, under) Hadrian's Wall. The Australian I was traveling with was the adventurous type, and knew some prime locations for unobtrousive camping.

I'm impressed. So far I've only seen 2 of these where I've done none of the 10 things on the list. Yours is one of those two... and the other was by someone who claimed her life was vastly too boring.

You know, I need to combine my dumb luck with yours and go on some adventures at some point. I bet between the two of us we would have some stories to tell, assuming that either of us survived the experience.
