Wow, thanks for that Mel, I always wondered that. It seems kind of inconvenient doesn't it. My accountants just use 1st April to 31st March (meaning one tax year was cut short presumably), but say that HMRC accept this, and if I went limited they'd do the same. I reckon they have to because Sage Accounts is too retarded to understand that your year end might not be at the end of a month.

I bet if anyone tried to bring it to something more sensible like 1st April to 31st March, there'd be a massive uproar from people in the tax office who'd think that all the stuff that happened in 1842 is really important and how dare anyone suggest changing it, etc.
