Well I've made myself a new icon. It's Davy Jones, obviously. I tried to overlay a picture of his ship on top

Do you mean creating animated gif's with photoshop? You need to use Image Ready (which I believe comes with photoshop anyways). Basically you use the program to turn on and off layers at a timed interval, so that it looks like it's animated.
Hope this helps a bit.
