Finishing college in four years is pretty ridiculous these days. It took me six. Had I not gotten the AS at MPC, and had I known what my ultimate major would have been at Chico State, I MIGHT have shaved that down to five years. But four? No way. Then again, I did have a high unit major.
I think the whole four years thing is an ideal. It's four years IF you don't change majors. And if you go to college all four years at the same place, and if you don't go for a high unit major. Of course, then there are freaks of nature like my sister who finished in three years in UC Berkeley. But she had a much easier major than I did, and she started college with enough AP credit that she was almost a sophomore when she started college, so that makes a big difference in time.
