I hear ya. I live in GA now and my neighborhood is cut off from public trans. I pretty much have to give this driving thing a go...and it's completely depressing me.

About the car thing...hmm, I hate cooking and despite people trying to teach me, I still haven't really learned because I don't want to. It scares me. I don't like it. Therefore, I definitely can't and won't judge you about the car, but yeah, it definitely makes life easier in the suburbs to have a car/drive. I hear you though :).
