i have 7 cats! introducing a new kitty into the family can be hard but it will usually work out.
what i always do is take the new kitty in a carrier and sit him in a closed off room where there is plenty of room to roam around (kitchen is good for me) and let the boss of the house sniff around him. leave the door open on the carrier so he can choose to come out or not. most likely they'll hiss and hate each other at first but if they don't ever end up liking each other, they'll just keep their distance and tolerate it. i only have a couple cats who never ended up getting along, the rest of them are all fine with each other though.
any original cats i've had have never changed their relationship with me because of another kitty being introduced. you should be ok there. just make sure you ease into it and watch them around each other and pet them both at the same time, etc. be sure that one of them doesn't feel like they aren't getting as much attention as the other.
it'll be rough for a few days, but they'll be fine! introducing a kitten to an older cat is much easier. bonus points if you're introducing the opposite gender! i've never known two female cats to end up bff. but penny and mugi snuggle and love each other, even though penny was hissing and attacking him for like the first week. just gotta wait it out, be patient!
I think it depends on the individual cats a lot. I've had a variety of reactions - when Earl met Darlene they were best buddies within twenty seconds; Patricia took five months to warm up to Alva and is still ready to bite the other cats' heads off. It's definitely easier to introduce a kitten to an adult cat rather than two adult kitties. And just like neutralmilkinn said, ladycats have a tendency to be more territorial, especially towards other female kitties - opposite sex pairs (or two boys) seem to be much easier when they're not littermates.
Sending you lots of luck to you, Bippi & the new kitten! Hopefully they'll be snugglebuddies within a few weeks. :) Be sure to let us know how it goes!!
ohhh i have a cat.....to bad we live far away from each other. his name is brody..and he is the most adorable little thing. I haven't found a home for him...but so far he looks like hes going to be part of the huge family. we have 3 pittbulls and 2 cats..lol This cat got lucky from dying...he was found in a pile of red ants..and now hes fat and loveable. lol
as for my advice....cats are tricky. they go half and half depending on their mood. My cat nala hates any animal, when brody came into our lives she was soooooo mad, but lately they've been playing around chasing each other. So far they are getting along. so i dont think you will have too much of a problem.
